9/19/2023 0 Comments On1 photo raw review![]() I do want to keep an open mind. But for now it’s Lr and Luminar all warts and all. Should you do any future sessions, I’ll probably take a peak and sample a taste, so to speak. Watching this session was a nice peak into On 1 RAW. I have gotten so use to the UI of Lr and Luminar so that all of the other programs look a little foreign and less intuitive to me. I wanted to watch this session to see how On 1 RAW works. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and we all have different needs and likes. I am not knocking anyone for choosing On1, or Capture 1, Photo Mechanic, etc. For me I have developed a comfortable workflow and use of he apps. I follow Scott Davenport and he has done a lot of teaching on the use of On 1, but there are only so many apps that you can learn well and get use to and so I decided to go with Lr and Luminar. So when Luminar came out I made the personal choice to go with them as my main plug in post-processing app and pretty much abandoned NIK (although on occasion I will still use Color Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro) and gave up on On 1. I also had some of macphun’s apps and liked them and developed a great relationship with macphun. Using the ADD feature cut down some of the import time in Lr, i found, but did not afford me my OCD control of naming, locating the file location and metadata input, etc. However, in Lr doing so would not allow you to use all of the naming, metadata options as easily as using the COPY option and selecting where to import the photos in Finder. That’s how their Browse function works, IMO You can do that also in Lr and on import choose ADD rather than COPY. It seems ON 1 RAW wants you to do that also. ![]() Then you opened it in Browse and began to work on processing. Part of the reason but not the sole reason, I believe (and anyone correct me if I am wrong), for their better speed prior to their release of RAW was the fact that you imported your photos off of your card directly to your file folder structure on your HD, I.e., seen in Finder or Explorer. ![]() Hi Joseph, I’ve had On 1 Photo 10 and had used it and played with it but I did not to get their On 1 Photo Raw product. ![]()
